Interaction, freedom and research are the watchwords of Immersione libera, a collective exhibition curated by Giovanni Paolin and scheduled in the evocative spaces of the Palazzina dei Bagni Misteriosi. Twelve young artists working in Italy have been called to deal with one of the most fascinating places in Milan, recently rediscovered and made accessible to the audience to create new site-specific works.
Immersione libera – exhibition realized in collaboration with Galleria Continua, Associazione Pier Lombardo and the Franco Parenti Theatre – is a project of the entrepreneur and collector Marina Nissim aimed at supporting and promoting new generation artists, giving them broad support and space for expression.
The artists involved are very different from each other, considering their background and place of origin: Alfredo Aceto, Agreements to Zinedine, Antonello Ghezzi, Calori & Maillard, Campostabile, Giovanni Chiamenti, Alessandro Fogo, Francesco Fonassi, Valentina Furian, Raluca Andreea Hartea, Ornaghi & Prestinari and Marta Spagnoli were selected by Giovanni Paolin among the most interesting and innovative emerging voices of the contemporary international scene.
The exhibition does not follow a single common thread but embraces a wide range of proposals including different languages, materials and techniques. The artists involved were granted the maximum freedom of experimentation without any restrictions or limitations, with the aim of enriching the exhibition path and its meanings through new and alternative points of view. In their diversity, all the works are designed to blend in with the surrounding space and encourage visitors to engage with immersive experiences. Sculptures, paintings, prints, photographs, video projections and installations will also dialogue with a series of temporary events organized on a weekly basis, in collaboration with the guest curators – Giulia Colletti, Caterina Molteni, Treti Galaxie – to enhance the versatility of the Palazzina spaces and adding further artistic experiences.
The Palazzina dei Bagni Misteriosi will be transformed into an open platform where artists and curators can work on the hybridisation of their languages, creating, through a series of events like concerts, conferences and performances, a calendar of events that will totally cover the exposition programme – the curator Giovanni Paolin
